The Story of Château Amsterdam
Right in the creative heart of Amsterdam-Noord, Château Amsterdam Château Amsterdam is bringing winemaking to the city. Forget the rolling vineyards of France or Italy—this innovative urban winery crafts its wines right in the city, using top-quality grapes sourced from family-run vineyards across Europe. The result? A unique blend of tradition and experimentation that brings something truly special to Amsterdam’s wine scene.
With three distinct lines—Classical, Experimental, and Non-Alcoholic—Château Amsterdam offers something for every wine enthusiast, from purists to curious explorers. And it’s not just about the wine; their wine tastings, wine and food pairing, and wine events turn their space into a lively hub for urban wine culture.
From passion project to winery
For founder Remy, wine has always been a family affair. His journey began at the dinner table with blind tastings at just 15 years old. Years later, he secured a 1,500 m² warehouse in Amsterdam-Noord, while his father, Jos, honed his craft under winemaking legend Alois Lageder in Italy. In 2018, Château Amsterdam bottled its first 5,000 wines—and the rest is history.
Sustainability meets innovation
Château Amsterdam is serious about sustainability. Since 2023, they’ve been SKAL-certified, and their first organic wines are set to launch in 2024. From solar-powered production to eco-friendly packaging with lightweight glass, recycled labels, and carbon-negative corks, sustainability is woven into every bottle.
Waste? Not Here
Every part of the winemaking process finds a new purpose: Oedipus Brewery turns grape skins into beer. The Stillery distills leftovers into grappa and Piquette d’Amsterdam gives grape must a second life. Even what remains goes to a local pig farmer, talk about closing the loop!

Now at Albert Heijn
Good news: you don’t have to visit the winery to get a taste. Château Amsterdam now has two standout bottles at Albert Heijn: Red Wine: Smooth & Fruity – A soft, easy-drinking blend of Tempranillo (Spain) and Nero d’Avola (Italy), perfect for pasta or chicken dishes. Rated 8 by De Grote Hamersma.
White Wine: Crisp & Refreshing – A zesty Sauvignon Blanc that balances the freshness of French grapes with the richness of Spanish vineyards. Ideal for aperitifs, salads, and seafood. Also awarded an 8 by De Grote Hamersma!
So, whether you’re exploring Amsterdam-Noord or just looking for a great bottle, Château Amsterdam is worth discovering. A modern take on winemaking, right in the heart of the city. Cheers!
